The Texas Concealed Handgun Association Board of Directors is proud to announce the 2nd Members' Special Handgun Course. The class is presented by Tac Pro, whose owners are Association members.
The format will be similar to last year's course. The purpose is to take CHL holders to the next level of their training after getting the license. Some people believe that when they pass the Concealed Handgun License course and get their licenses, they are fully equipped defend themselves in an armed confrontation. However, getting your license should be the first step in your self-defense training, not the last.
Instruction starts in the classroom adjoining the 25-yard range. During the last course, Bill talks about having to justify your actions to the twelve reasonable people on a jury, many of whom may know little or nothing about guns and self-defense.
This is followed by shooting on the range at three and seven yards. Davison sets a minimum shooting standard for concealed carry: you should be able to fire three shots from your carry gun in three seconds at 10 yards and hit the cardiovascular triangle, about the size of a dinner plate, with each shot. Later students were taught shooting while moving and shooting at a row of steel plates.
Bill coveres drawing from under a jacket or vest and reloading. He recommends reloading only if 75 percent of your ammunition in a magazine is used up and don't throw away or drop your magazines because the gun is useless without them.
He also recommends license holders play a game called "What happens if the fight starts now." The game can be played anywhere and at any time lets you develop a habit of planning what you would do if someone were to attack you. Bill Davison has owned and run Tac Pro Shooting Center for more than a decade. He is a member of TCHA and has supported the organization for many years by regularly donating three-day courses. He spent 14 years in the British Royal Marines where he was CQB instructor for the Special Boat Service (similar to the U.S. Navy SEALs). He has trained military and law enforcement personnel as well as civilians world wide. He will be assisted by Chris Bird, former TCHA president, CHL instructor and author of The Concealed Handgun Manual. $125 for members of TCHA; $225 for non-members. There is nothing to prevent non-members from joining to take advantage of the $100 deal. Space is limited to 25 students and payment is required when booking the course. A three-day primary handgun course at Tac Pro Shooting Center is normally $599 so this is an incredible bargain. The Course
Bill Davison has again agreed to hold at two-day course for TCHA members at Tac Pro Shooting Center. Due to unavoidable delays, notice of the course is short. For that: apologies. The class is limited to 25 and costs $125. As his usual price for a three-day course is $599 it is still a great deal.
